Abstract

Based on a qualitative methodology, the research we conducted aimed to carry out a linguistic analysis of the Moroccan theatrical technolect. The study focused on the phonetic, lexical, and semantic specificities of this language through observations and interviews conducted, particularly at the Cultural and Art Center of Lahboul in Meknes. In this regard, it helped explain the historical evolution of this professional means of expression by highlighting several linguistic phenomena that led to its emergence (borrowings, phonetic distortions, code-switching, etc.). The results show that it represents a mixture of French, Classical Arabic, and Moroccan Arabic dialect, influenced by socio-historical factors (language prestige, linguistic interference, etc.), phonetically adapted to the Moroccan accent, and used to facilitate communication among theatre professionals.
