Langue, image et communication : la carte postale comme médium du voyage à Marrakech
Keywords:
language, communication, vintage postcards, Marrakech, travel memory, urban imaginaryAbstract
Since the early twentieth century, the illustrated postcard has functioned as a key medium of travel communication. In Marrakech, postcards combine photographic images with handwritten language to convey messages, preserve memories, and circulate representations of the city. Based on a corpus of vintage postcards produced between 1900 and 1950, this paper examines the postcard as an iconotextual communication device in which language, image, and memory interact. The study highlights how postcards contributed to the development of touristic and heritage-oriented communication about Marrakech, shaping a lasting urban imaginary.
