Abstract

Language policy refers to the set of ideas, principles, and laws that outline a framework for the development and regulation of a language within society. Language planning, on the other hand, represents the practical implementation of this policy through systematic and organized efforts aimed at modifying language use and guiding it toward specific objectives. In other words, language policy defines the overarching goals, while language planning provides the operational mechanisms to achieve these goals, address linguistic challenges, or promote the status of a particular language.

The researcher examines several definitions and theoretical approaches that highlight the importance of these two concepts in linguistic studies and in human life more broadly, given their strong interrelation and complementarity. Indeed, language policy and language planning form two interconnected fields that cannot be separated when analyzing the evolution of languages and their social functions.
