Abstract

This article examines the methods and venues of clothing trade in Morocco and al-Andalus during the medieval period, with a focus on markets as the primary framework for textile distribution. It highlights the diversity of markets, including daily, weekly, and seasonal ones, and their role in supplying different social groups with garments. The study also analyzes the degree of integration between Moroccan and Andalusian markets, especially during periods of political cohesion, emphasizing the importance of major urban centers such as Fes, Marrakesh, Córdoba, and Almería as active commercial hubs. The findings suggest that clothing markets constituted a central element in the economic and social dynamics of medieval Morocco and al-Andalus.
