Our research, based on a quantitative methodology, seeks to highlight the added value of initiative-taking among first-year students at the Higher School of Technology in Meknes. Through a field survey conducted during the TEC classes specifically designed for them, we attempted to discover the extent to which this behavior could enable these learners to become more autonomous in their oral participation and to progress in the learning process. By using non-participant observation as a data collection method, we observed that encouraging learners to take initiative can only be beneficial if it occurs in an environment where self-confidence and motivation are continuously fostered. We also noted that when these two vital driving forces are stimulated, initiative-taking not only allows learners to communicate their ideas clearly, but also boosts their capacity for retention, reflection, and analysis.
