The research focuses on Qur’anic evidences (linguistic citations) in Sibawayh’s Book.
I divided this study into an introduction, where I defined the concept of “shāhid” (linguistic evidence) in Arabic linguistic studies. I then introduced the author of the book, the renowned grammarian Sibawayh, mentioning his full name, lineage, and teachers.
After that, I discussed the book itself and the opinions of grammarians regarding it. I then moved directly to examining the Qur’anic evidences cited in the book, the methodology Sibawayh followed, and the main characteristics of his use of Qur’anic citations as linguistic proof. The study concludes with a summary of the main findings derived from the analysis.
The methodology adopted in this research is the descriptive-analytical approach, aimed at highlighting the importance of linguistic evidence (shāhid) in linguistic studies and its significance for the author of Al-Kitāb, Sibawayh.
Research Problem: Sibawayh cited more than three hundred Qur’anic verses in Al-Kitāb to support and justify grammatical rules. The question, therefore, is: Was Sibawayh able to successfully use Qur’anic evidence to support all the grammatical rules he established
