This study presents a phenomenological analysis of the mechanisms of deactivation and reformulation of the five senses in Ibn al-Khatib's Rawdat al-Taʻrīf bi-al-Ḥubb al-Sharīf (713-776 AH/1313-1374 CE). It aims to reveal how an "apophatic theology" is constructed, based on invalidating the external senses in favor of a "sixth spiritual sense" manifested in "insight" (baṣīra), "taste" (dhawq), and "witnessing" (shuhūd). The research employs hermeneutic and phenomenological methods, utilizing AI-assisted textual analysis. The findings show that Ibn al-Khatib constructs a Sufi epistemological theory grounded in the "destruction of[1] the senses" as a prerequisite for "true vision."¹
