Abstract

The rapid pace of technological and digital evolution necessitates a review of educational curricula to integrate graphic design as a fundamental pillar of the learning process. As the language of the modern era, graphic design is a powerful tool for expression and creativity that transcends mere technical skill, fostering critical thinking and the engaging communication of ideas. Constant exposure to visual content makes learners' engagement with graphic design—through both practice and study—an urgent necessity for developing 21st-century skills, ultimately contributing to a generation of innovators capable of adapting to continuous change. This research paper explores the intersection of artistic and cultural education with graphic design through two integrated approaches : the first views it as an educational end in itself, aiming to empower learners with the artistic knowledge, skills, and cultural values needed for visual self-expression ; the second treats it as a mediator and facilitator of the learning process, utilizing visual and applied arts as didactic tools to enhance comprehension across various academic fields. This integration represents a conscious response to the demands of the digital age, transforming design from a simple visual art into a comprehensive educational strategy that blends aesthetic and functional dimensions. Furthermore, it supports learners' ability to integrate into the labor market and society as content creators rather than mere consumers, achieving the goals of "education through art" in its most sophisticated contemporary form.
