This research analyzes the implicit cultural patterns in the Egyptian writer Mahmoud Maher's novel "The Autumn of the Pomegranate Tree" (Kharif Shajarat Al-Rumman), which chronicles the tragic fall of Granada, the last Muslim stronghold in Andalusia, in 1492 AD. The study is based on the methodology of cultural criticism, which goes beyond the aesthetic reading of literary texts to reveal the implicit and unspoken patterns, employing artificial intelligence techniques to track linguistic patterns, dominant metaphors, and character transformations. The analysis reveals conflicting political patterns regarding the legitimacy of rule, patterns related to the employment of the female body in penetrating power, identity patterns reflecting the crisis of the internal and external "Other," sacred patterns manifested in the conflict between mosques and churches, and metaphysical patterns related to prophecy and fatalistic certainty. The research uncovers the deepest dominant pattern: the conception of Andalusia as a female body that is violated, culminating in the analysis of the final scene where Ferdinand bites into a pomegranate, its red juice trickling down his beard. The research concludes that employing artificial intelligence in critical studies enables a more comprehensive view of recurring patterns and deep structures, and that the novel carries a sharp critique of Arab political and social patterns.
